"Trimmings" is a 45-minute stand-up special that tracks Shai's relationship to her body growing up, performed next to a jar containing the tissue removed during an elective labiaplasty. This piece was Shai's Senior Honors Thesis at Northwestern University, with faculty advisors Joshua Chambers-Letson (Professor, author, and Performance Studies Department Chair) and Mary Zimmerman (Professor, Tony Award-winning director, and MacArthur Fellow.)
