When she was 16, her dad signed her up for a stand-up class. Since then, Shai has performed comedy all over the world, from Chicago to New York to Tel Aviv. In 2025, she received honors for her senior thesis, Trimmings, a stand-up special with performance art tactics.

Since graduating from Northwestern in 2025, Shai has launched an unexpected film acting career in Israel, where she holds dual-citizenship. She plays Rachel Glassberg, an American lone soldier and tank driver, in Ayelet Menahemi's new film, "Tankistas: Wild Company" (currently in postproduction). She was then cast in her second feature film as a supporting lead, which is expected to shoot this summer.

Starting in the fall, Shai plans to study at the world-renowned theatre and clown school, Ecole Philippe Gaulier, in France.
