When she was 16, her dad signed her up for a stand-up class. Since then, Shai has performed comedy all over the world, from Chicago to New York, to Edinburgh, to Tel Aviv. In 2025, she received honors for her senior thesis, Trimmings, a stand-up special with performance art tactics.

Since graduating from Northwestern University (Go 'Cats!), Shai has launched an unexpected film acting career in Israel, where she holds dual-citizenship (don't worry, she shares your exact beliefs.) She played Rachel Glassberg, an American lone soldier and tank driver, in Ayelet Menahemi's "Tankistas: Wild Company," and Aliza Fishman in Lior Ashkenazi's "The Buffalo Effect." Both films are currently in postproduction and expected to be released in 2027. In Israel, she is represented by the Kotler Carmon agency.

From October 2026 to July 2027, Shai will be studying at the world-renowned theatre and clown school, Ecole Philippe Gaulier, in France.
